I believe in E. Cleveland. I believe so much that I bought a house right next door for my sister. The children of E. Cleveland are hurting and need anything to let them know they are loved and are important to the city. My father at 90 years old who recently passed in October believed in education and they are the future and need something to hold on to and be proud of such as a playground.

As a 1991 graduate of the East Cleveland School System and a Beachwood Schools educator, I give my vote to EC. As a HS, college, and graduate student, I ran the Shaw High Summer Swim Program located at the former Shaw Korb Pool, now located under the new Shaw High School rear parking lot. Hundreds of youth participated in the summer swim program and were able to be physically active throughout the year. One of the kids who frequented the pool and was part of our Learn to Swim Program, qualified for the 2008 Olympic Swimming Trials. Another swimmer, Dr. Flounsay Cavers is manager of budgets for RTA. Bryan Bartley is VP of accounting at Nestle Corp. Without recreation; these young men would not be doing the great things they are doing today. While the playground is "not" a swimming pool, a playground "will" allow kids to be kids and to interact with the environment in a wholesome and positive way. Never count an East Cleveland student out!!!

I remember the opportunities afforded to me through East Cleveland Schools and I am greatful. To be able to contribute to such a grand opportunity by simply going on line and voting is a no brainer. Let's forward this information just as quickly as we would a joke or prayer. The only requirements are that you be 13 and older with an email address. Come on people we can make this happen. I charge all alumni of East Cleveland and all current students of East Cleveland with this plea, cast your vote for E.C. I want to thank channel 19 news for giving the "heads up" about this organization. It's a wonderful opportunity for the citizens of Cleveland, as well as the people of other cities to be able to come together to do something positive for these children. With the help of our votes & the Grace of God, we WILL make a difference.

Hope for the best. Community Baptist on Hayden is one of my favorite churches. Never knew that East Cleveland existed until visiting that particular church 20 some years ago. There is a lot of potential in E.C. Go for it!!!

i believe all children need a place to run around have fun and hang out wit they friends. i didnt have all this when i was growin up so i hope they get it!

As a former Educator of East Cleveland City Schools and A product of Mayfair Elementary , I do not need to imagine what these children are feeling. Even when I attended the old Mayfair more than 25 years ago,we had only four swings and a sliding board.We also had a big black top area to play in. I remember falling on that ground so many times and scrapping my knee. Although we didn't have much, we made the best of it.My mother, Mrs.Bibb would surely be an voice leading this campaign as she so loved the children of Mayfair. I hope that our communities efforts does not fall on death ears.This community is in desperate need of uplifting. I still live in East Cleveland right down the street from Mayfair. I was so excited to see the children get a new building but disappointed that there was not a playground built for our children.I ask when you see a child in East Cleveland remember that you were once that child. Remember your school age friends, your favorite teachers. Remember your favorite swing set, sliding board or field day. Remember to lend your hand to help a child that could have been you.

We love East Cleveland. I personally grew up and went to most of the schools in EC especially Mayfair. Good luck Charity is on the way.

Why do we have over 8,600 views of this video, but less than 2,000 votes!?!?! Come on now people, it only takes about 3 minutes to register and vote. I'm sure that many of you are Cleveland area residents, and some even East Cleveland residents if not formerly. But most of us are aware of East Cleveland's plight, and we know they need the help. I'm a former EC resident as well as a former student of Mayfair Elementary and we need your votes!!!!

i love this video it is a shame that the city of east cleveland has no safe playgrounds four yong children to play, i remember growing up in e.c. and having to go to other citys in order to play(so i really hope we win!!!!)p.s........oh yea and in case any one was wondering where that hot track came from in the vid it was all me baby!!!!!!

As a former resident of EC and graduate of Shaw High School, class of 77, I am excited about this award. It shows that effort and persistence will be rewarded. It is wonderful to see that the community is working toward having spaces for children to play. As a pediatric nurse practitioner, I am well aware of the effects of childhood obesity. Why it is even predicated that many children of this generation will die before their parents as they succumb to diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension. Again congratualtions EC, you've made us proud. I hope the media picks up on this like they do the not so flattering events!!!!

The talent and enthusiasm in EC never ceases to amaze me! I have worked as an artist in the schools for several years and have always told the students that they have a "playground" in EC called East Cleveland Theater, where your imagination is allowed to run free. If we could get all of you and all the talent of these kids in ECT we would be able to have more than 1 or 2 students in our dance and drama classes. Great Video you got my vote!! PS..PLEASE call and support ECT which is right around the cornor in our own community.
