You couldn't get a more wonderful place to live, work and bring up a family. Think of it; mountains, beautiful desert scenery, all year round agriculture, the Colorado River and its beaches, Mexico - all just a few minutes from the old historic downtown where the earliest Europeans navigated the river some 70 years before the Pilgrims first landed at Plymouth Rock. What more could you want in life!!!

Yuma is a boom town. All you have to do is leave town for a week and you'll see noticeable growth in developing communities. I look forward to Yuma 5 years from now, but I'm loving every day until then.

I came to Yuma on a work contract but hope to return to live and go into business when I'm done. People here actually use their parks, it seems like there's a hardly a day when the picnic areas aren't super-full. They're clean, green, fun and safe. Vote for Yuma!

I grew up in Yuma and came back after 5 years of college to practice Civil Engineering at a private firm here in town. The Military base, proving grounds, and the comfort and convenience of our commnity have brought many new faces here. New housesand businesses are popping up everywhere. We are widening roads, building schools, expanding the community college, and now we need more parks for everyone young and old.
We are a diverse community growing rapidly and I am thrilled to be a part of it. New improvements to our parks and recreation facilities will undoubtedly add to the beauty and spirit of our community!

Fishing, hunting, ATV trails, hiking, birding, gardening, rock hounds, rock climbing, swimming, diving, water skiing, kayaking, golf, all night softball, high school - college - pro sports, antiquing, community theater, RVing, square dancing, western line dancing, ballet, etc.,....ALL YEAR LONG

Yuma Military Transplant when my Dad was transferred in 1981. I am not 37 and have lived here since, Left for a while, but Yuma drew me back. Loved growing up here and I love raising my kids here. Yuma has great potential and lots of room to PLAY! PLAY! PLAY! We are duners, desert rats, river rats and avid BASEBALLERS! Let's Play YUMA......

I moved to Yuma from California and have no desire to move anywhere else. No matter where I travel and what I see, there is no place that can compare to home...Yuma! The summers may be hot but we don't shovel snow or have hurricanes to worry about, just fun in the sun!

Not only is Yuma a "Playful City" but it a city with heart! There is no other place on the planet where so many people would come together and build a playground like the Stuart Vincent Wolfe Playground - totally volunteer labor (with the exception of the architectural planning company), food for all volunteers, three times a day, donated by local food establishments, and more than $45,000.00 donated in just one day with the assistance of local media for building supplies . What a great place to PLAY!

I had no idea about this until I saw a bulletin off Myspace. Go Yuma! I helped design Yuma's Roxaboxen park when I was in Jr. High and theres no words to describe something of your own permanently placed into the city and community you've been raised. I'm excited our city has entered this. There are so many things not placed on that video of activities that this community offers to everyone. Literally, EVERYONE!

Even though longview is winning in votes I still believe Yuma did a more effective job in displaying the answer to why they are a playful city! (that is part of the criteria right?) I really hope they take that into consideration because I know that this grant would really help the kids in Yuma...they deserve it... :)

Where else can you go to a city park and swim in the Colorado river, in NOVEMBER OR MARCH. Ride sandrails in the desert in DECEMBER, no snow tires required for weather. I can ride my Harley every day ALL year long. In Yuma, you grill burgers and dogs and drink beer with no fear of snow. Like to play golf, you can do it in Yuma almost everyday, I think the courses are closed on Christmas. If you like humidty, clouds, snow, rain, thunderstorms, tornadoes, don't come to Yuma. The humidity is 15 % at 7:00 on December 21 and the temp is around 60 deg. If you can't find anything to play that you like in Yuma, then you won't find it anywhere else. I am KCF and I have been in Yuma since June 2007. Great place.

The Johnson crew we think this is the greatest place to live and have fun year around.
Our kids have the ability to play out door year around when properly dressed for the
weather. We can also grill year around outdoor, swim year around, and have lot's
of community involvement. We love it here.

Great place to live! Recreation is tops and Music and arts are being encouraged by the community! They are becoming top notched as well. There is a lot to do in Yuma! There are also a lot of water sports and sand dunes.
